Oberwolfach Foundation

The Oberwolfach foundation (Oberwolfach Stiftung) serves the promotion of science and research at the Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach (MFO). The foundation takes part in administration of the Förderverein des Mathematischen Forschungsinstituts Oberwolfach (Friends of Oberwolfach). Intended purpose of the charitable Oberwolfach foundation is in particular

• The acquisition and provision of funds for the MFO
• Finance and bestowal of the Oberwolfach Prize to young European mathematicians to honour outstanding achievements in differing mathematical areas of research.

The board of the Oberwolfach foundation decides about the appropriation of funds. Chairman of the Oberwolfach foundation board is Dr. Gerhard Rupprecht.

Horst Tietz Fund

Horst Tietz Fund is a subsidiary of the Oberwolfach Foundation.

The Horst Tietz Fund is dedicated to providing further financial support for maintaining the inspiring and casual atmosphere of the Oberwolfach Institute. In times when research support has been drastically cut, we are turning to all alumnae and allumni of Oberwolfach for help with additional backing to preserve the legacy of the Institute and guarantee its independence in a time of reduced funding for curiosity-driven research.

Donations to the Horst Tietz Fund are eligible for a 1:1 match by the Preuss Foundation in La Jolla, California. You are invited to make a contribution. Through your generosity the Fund can provide that support for the Oberwolfach Institute necessary for the perpetuation of independent research at this unique place in the Black Forest. You are also encouraged to consider the Oberwolfach Foundation in your long term giving.
