The Library at Oberwolfach

The Library of the MFO primarily provides service to the invited guests of the Institute. It supplies, for this purpose, printed and electronic media in all fields of pure and applied mathematics. The library is open for invited guests of the Institute; other persons wishing to use the library require permission from the Institute's director. Being a reference library, no works can be lent to individuals off site. RiP-guests and Oberwolfach Leibniz Fellows (OWLF) only are allowed to take books/journals to their room.

The collection currently contains around 50,000 volumes of books, 27,000 volumes of printed journals, more than 500 subscriptions to printed journals as well as about 4.500 electronic journal subscritptions (including German National Licences).

The Electronic Catalogue provides information on books and printed journals available from the Institute's library. It currently lists our entire present holdings.

You may choose between Basic Search, which means searching by an author, title, subject, or other keywords and Enhanced Search where you can combine several search terms. Please note that you can search not only by standard search terms (author, title, ...) but also by the Mathematics Subject Classification (first two digits).

Library Extension

To ensure that the working conditions for the mathematicians are not facing any limits in the future, both, the Klaus Tschira Stiftung and the VolkswagenStiftung, allocated the sum of 408.000 Euro each (in total 816.000 Euro) to the MFO for the extension of the library building. [more]
