This is the traditional, well-established programme of weekly workshops with 45-48 participants. Participation is by personal invitation by the Director, upon the recommendation of the organisers. The workshops are organised by leading international experts in the field. [more]
In this programme, it is possible to hold mini-workshops of 15-16 participants in certain fixed weeks. These workshops are aimed especially at junior researchers and hot developments, and the decision takes place only half a year before the date. The mini-workshops are also scheduled for one week. This aims at small groups of 2-4 researchers from different places working together in Oberwolfach for 2 weeks up to 3 months on a specific project. Applications should be addressed to the Director. [more]
The idea of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft is to learn by giving a lecture on some new results which have been found recently by other researchers working in some specific topic. Organisers and topics for the next Arbeitsgemeinschaft are proposed during the current Arbeitsgemeinschaft. Participation is by application to the organisers. [more]
The Oberwolfach Seminars are organised by leading experts in the field and address postdocs and Ph.D. students from all over the world. The aim is to introduce about 24 participants to a particular hot development. We are pleased that the Carl Friedrich von Siemens Foundation has decided to support the Oberwolfach Seminars from summer 2008 to summer 2013. Applications should be addressed to the Director. [more]
Beginning of 2007 the Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach (MFO) will set up a new programme for postdoctoral researchers. This programme is supported by the Leibniz-Gemeinschaft within the Pakt für Forschung und Innovation for the period from 2007 to 2009.
The focus of this programme is to support outstanding young mathematical researchers in the realization of a proposed research project, possibly with a collaborator or in a small group. The institute offers an excellent infrastructure embedded in an international environment which is ideal for concentrated work during the stay at Oberwolfach. [more]
Since 2004 the Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach publishes official reports of every workshop, containing extended abstracts of one up to three pages, including references, of the given talks. These "Oberwolfach Reports" (OWR) are published in succession of the "Tagungsberichte". The aim is to report periodically upon the state of mathematical research, and to make these reports available to the mathematical community. [more]
The Oberwolfach Prize is awarded by the Gesellschaft für mathematische Forschung e.V. to young European mathematicians not older than 35. The prize is awarded for excellent achievements in changing fields of mathematics. [more]
There is a training week for school teachers and librarians of the State of Baden-Württemberg on a two-year-rotation. The Institute also hosts the final training week for especially gifted pupils to prepare for the International Mathematical Olympiad.
