On Friday, 5 July 2019, the Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach celebrated its 75th anniversary. Prof. Dr. Gerhard Huisken welcomed around 70 invited guests, among them Theresia Bauer (Ministry for Science, Research and the Arts in Baden-Württemberg), Dr. Michael Meister (Federal Ministry for Education and Science), Prof. Dr. Albert Sickmann (Leibniz Association), Prof. Dr. Friedrich Götze (Gesellschaft für Mathematische Forschung), Dr. Wilhelm Krull (Volkswagen Foundation), Beate Spiegel (Klaus Tschira Foundation) and Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Ursula Gather (Oberwolfach Foundation), who addressed greetings to the MFO. Unfortunately, Prof. Dr. Cédric Villani had to cancel his participation at short notice, but he sent his congratulations by video.

Afterwards Prof. Dr. Stefan Müller (Bonn University) described the importance of Oberwolfach for his own career and impressively illustrated how meetings in Oberwolfach initiated new developments in mathematics.

The celebration was musically accompanied by the clarinet quartet "Clarisonos". Further impressions of the event are provided at our online photo-database. Soon, we will publish a Festschrift including greetings, lectures and further interesting contributions.
