4. Call for applications: Oberwolfach Research Fellows
www.mfo.de/about-the-institute/news/research-in-pairs-becomes-oberwolfach-research-fellows
"Research in Pairs" becomes "Oberwolfach Research Fellows". The new program provides more flexibility to senior and junior researchers.
In 2020 the MFO started to offer the possibility to apply for an Oberwolfach Research Fellowship (OWRF) within the existing programs "Research in Pairs" and "Oberwolfach Leibniz Fellows". Facing the challenges of the corona crisis for the scientific world, this offer was meant to provide a perspective for scientists, in particular for junior scientists. With its enhanced flexibility the program proved to be a great success and we received many applications. In 2021 it was therefore decided that OWRF should become the new umbrella format for longer term research stays in Oberwolfach. Thus, the former "Research in Pairs" program evolves to the new "Oberwolfach Research Fellowship", including the possibility for junior researchers to apply for an "Oberwolfach Leibniz Fellowship". Please find all the information on the program and how to apply on our website for longer term research stays: www.mfo.de/scientific-program/longer-term/longer-term-researchers
5. Call for proposals: networking activities in 2024
www.mfo.de/about-the-institute/news/call-for-networking-activities
MFO calls for proposals for Workshops with a distinguished networking character. This is a new category of Workshops within the MFO program whose aim is to enhance gender and diversity, and to strengthen the impact of minorities in mathematics. Invited are proposals for such activities in the MFO Workshop program (which also includes half workshops) and in the Mini-Workshop program.
The proposals for such networking Workshops or networking Mini-Workshops should describe a specific research subject as usual - see our proposal guidelines for more details on this aspect - while also providing a detailed concept for the proposed networking and possible mentoring activities. In particular, please specify in which way you would like to give preference to the selection of speakers and/or participants in terms of gender and diversity and indicate a preliminary list of proposed participants.
The deadlines and submitting procedures are the same as for the traditional Workshops and Mini-Workshops (see proposal guidelines). The Scientific Committee will discuss and decide on this new category of networking activities based on scientific quality and the networking concept at the same time but separately from the traditional formats.
Further measures to promote equality and diversity at the Institute can be found in our EDI policy.
6. Call for proposals: Oberwolfach Workshops 2024
The deadline for proposals of Oberwolfach Workshops in 2024 is end of July 2022. The decision on the proposals by the Oberwolfach Scientific Committee is scheduled to the end of October 2022. See also the description of the program and our guidelines for proposals of an Oberwolfach Workshop. www.mfo.de/scientific-program/meetings/proposal-guidelines
Applications should be sent as pdf-files to the Director Prof. Dr. Gerhard Huisken, via proposals@mfo.de.
7. Call for proposals: Mini-Workshops 2022-2023
www.mfo.de/scientific-program/meetings/mini-workshop
The fixed weeks and deadlines to apply for an Oberwolfach Mini-Workshop in 2022-2023 are
Dates of Mini-Workshops | Deadlines for proposals |
26 Feb - 04 March 2023 | 04 September 2022 |
29 Oct - 04 Nov 2023 | 07 May 2023 |
26 Nov 02 Dec 2023 | 07 May 2023 |
17 Dec - 23 Dec 2023 | 07 May 2023 |
As an option, a proposal for a Mini-Workshop can contain an additional component of online-participants (not more than the number of on-site participants) such that the Mini-Workshop will be realized in a hybrid format. This can make sense in case of a strong scientific cooperation between the proposed on-site participants with a group of international researchers elsewhere who will not be able to travel (e.g., because of pandemic restrictions). In this case, the proposal should also contain a concept and schedule of the activities with regard to the cooperation over different time zones.
For each of these weeks the decision about the Mini-Workshops takes place about 3 weeks after the corresponding deadline for application, which is about half a year before the week of the Mini-Workshop.
Applications should be sent as pdf-files to the Director Prof. Dr. Gerhard Huisken, via proposals@mfo.de. See also our guidelines for proposals above.
8. Call for proposals: Oberwolfach Seminars 2023
The deadline for proposals of Oberwolfach Seminars in 2023 is end of July 2022. The decision on the proposals by the Oberwolfach Scientific Committee is scheduled to the end of October 2022. See also our description of the seminar program (section "Annual decision of the seminar program"). www.mfo.de/scientific-program/meetings/oberwolfach-seminars
Applications should be sent as pdf-files to the Vice Director Prof. Dr. Matthias Hieber, via proposals@mfo.de.
9. Call for proposals: Tandem-Workshop in September 2023
The Mathematical Research Institute Oberwolfach (MFO), Germany, and the Australian Mathematical Research Institute MATRIX invite proposals for a tandem workshop taking place simultaneously in a hybrid format at MATRIX and MFO in the weeks of 17 - 23 September 2023 or 24 - 30 September 2023. The workshop is held simultaneously in both locations.
Please see the recently published call for details.
