Running routes

We are very grateful to Prof. Dr. Ralf Hiptmair who provided us with this collection of running routes starting at the Institute.

Track I

For experienced and well trained runners only. Mainly following gravel roads along the slope of the valley, the track goes uphill steadily in the beginning before descending almost down to Wolfach. After a short narrow and very scenic section (Helblingweg) it follows the slope on the other side of the hill up to Landeckhof from there it drops steeply downhill back to the Institute.

Track II

A track for regular runners, running along the slopes up to Oberwolfach Kirche and back to the Institute at the bottom of the valley. In the beginning a few uphill sections requiring stamina. In the valley follow the bicycle route. When running along the slope there are many opportunities for taking a shortcut straight down to the bottom of the valley.

Track III

From the Insitute follow a gravel road steeply uphill. It will go steep for a while, interrupted by a short downhill section, before becoming level. In this section the road turns into a trail. When hitting another road be careful not to turn right prematurely. Then the track follows the paved road in the Tiefenbachtal. Turn left before crossing the river and run along the marked "Wolftal Spazierweg" back to the Institute.
