18th MaRDI newsletter: 5 years of FAIR mathematical research data
(September 23, 2026) Over the past five years, MaRDI aimed to trigger a culture change in the handling of research data in the German mathematical community. As the first funding phase for MaRDI comes to an end, the latest episode of the newsletter reflects on what has been achieved and looks ahead what comes next.
Over the past five years, MaRDI has worked to drive a cultural shift in how research data is managed within the mathematical community. The initiative has brought together mathematics, research data management, and digital infrastructures with the ambition of making FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) integral to mathematical research.
As the first funding phase for MaRDI comes to an end, it is time to reflect: What has MaRDI achieved? Which stories and achievements stand out? What challenges and pitfalls have emerged, and what lessons have been learned along the way? And what will the future of mathematical research data bring?
