The MFO is keeping a close eye on current developments and follows the instructions of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg, the Federal Ministry of Health, the Robert Koch Institut (RKI) and the World Health Organization. • 14 March 2023: Restrictions in Germany mostly lifted

Information for invitees in 2023

Travel and meeting restrictions with regard to the pandemic have been reduced during 2022 such that we could go back from hybrid workshops to our traditional workshop format again, with an emphasis on in-person participation. In March 2023, almost all protective measures against the corona virus in public spaces have been dropped in Germany.

Nevertheless, we are prepared that the activity in 2023 where you are invited could be affected by measures like travel restrictions, realization as a hybrid workshop, hygiene measures and restricted capacity. For details, please see the explanation below and the links given there.

    General advice on travel arrangements

Please note that the MFO cannot foresee possible changes in future contact and travel restrictions by the government. Participants themselves are responsible to inquire about restrictions on travel to and from Germany; thus we strongly recommend to make travel arrangements flexible/refundable. We are sorry that we are not able to reimburse travel tickets which cannot be used because of force majeure. This also applies to grants. Information for travellers are provided at the following links:

    Oberwolfach Workshops in hybrid format

In agreement with the workshop organizers, the MFO can realize workshops with a hybrid component: For a small number of invited participants of a workshop who cannot come in person (e.g. due to government restrictions or for strong personal reasons), the MFO will provide video conferencing tools (Zoom) such that they can actively attend the lectures in the large lecture hall as well as discussion sessions that the organizers and other participants initiate.

    Hygiene measures

We will continue to provide contact-free disinfectant devices at the entrance areas and air purifying devices in the lecture halls, the discussion rooms and the dining hall. In case of symptoms of contagious diseases we recommend that affected participants voluntarily wear a mask or isolate themselves in their room. If the symptoms already arise before traveling to Oberwolfach, we kindly ask to make a responsible decision about the visit at the MFO.
